Music and The Blending Of Genre

In Thursday's class (5/29) we spoke on music and listened to several different samples of audio. Me personally I love music mainly R&B, Hip-Pop, & Jazz. To me music is therapy in a sense cause you can use it in so many different ways for so many different topics. For instance, many athletes can be found listening to songs to get them rallied up and focus for the upcoming sporting event. How many times have you associated an event in your life with song. You can even find in many relationships some claim to have a song that represents them and what they have in a sense. I love music because it can reach you on so many different levels. In high school I took a class on music and a friend of mine wrote a poem about herself, her minor struggle and music that I would like to share...

Music is love

I'm in love with music

ever since I laid eyes on it, I knew it was everything I ever wanted

Music can express your very emotion at any giving second

everyday I converse with music letting him know my inner feelings.

it is like he is my best friend, I tell him my worries of tomorrow and
my obstacles of yesteryear.

Music may not feel the same about me, because I can be very young
minded at times.

Never really seeing the world from a teenagers eyes, being trapped in
the kiddy lies.

Treated like a 7 year old and not as someone ten years older.

Crying out to be free and to wander the streets, wanting to know that
guy who lives next door.

Having that relationship that doesn't have to be hidden.

I cry multiple times because of the lies I have told, never unfolding my
true feelings to music.

So now as I sit, I watch, I wait, until that day me and music can be as
1.

I sit, I watch I wait...............
